“Ultimate Possibilities in Industrial IoT”


Internet of Things (IoT) is driving innovations in many business domains and reshaping business processes. According to McKinsey research report in June 2015, potential global economic impact of IoT is expected to reach US$11.1 trillion by 2025. Major impacts of IoT is expected to be in various industrial segments such as Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, Intelligent Retail, Logistics, Power and Energy, Transportation, …, etc. Allan will share Advantech’s perspective, strategy and experience toward how to take advantage of the huge business opportunities in industrial IoT and invite collaborations with all parties across different business segments.


Allan joined Advantech in Feb. 2014 and leads Corporate CTO Office responsible for Innovation Management Center, Corporate Engineering Services, Corporate Software Services, Integrated Product Development and Management process framework, and Industrial Design Team.

Allan earned his BS in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1983, and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Yale University in 1992. Before joining Advantech, Allan worked as Research Associate at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center for 1 year, as Senior Associate at Prudential Securities for 2 years, as Manager of Portfolio Systems at Tiger Management LLC for 6 years, as VP of Technology Center at Jih Sun Securities for 1 year, as CTO for 6 years and then as President for the latest 6 years at AVerMedia Technologies until 2013.

Allan believes the next big wave of Information and Communication Technology lies in Internet of Things in which all industrial and business segments adopt connectivity and data driven intelligences in ways that are yet to be fully exploited. Allan expects to solidly implement Advantech’s innovation platform to induce more creative IoT solution ready packages and to speed up progress of IoT solution development through active collaborations with alliance and joint venture partners.
